A study conducted by the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) provides insightful evidence of how effective design and planning can result in significant cost savings in construction projects.  The DBIA compared the project costs of a Design/ Build team (1 call) to the costs of a traditional design-bid-build model (3 calls).

The findings revealed that projects employing the Designer/ Builder approach experienced cost savings ranging from 6% to 10% compared to the traditional model. This significant difference in costs was attributed to the collaborative nature of the Design-Build process, where professionals work together from the project’s inception, leading to streamlined communication, no change orders (Save for scope of work changes), and enhanced efficiency.
